Environmental Compliance

Environmental Compliance is an important part of the Utility Services Department. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state mandated water quality standards. They also manage and operate the Wastewater Treatment Plant and 9 lift stations. This facility is permitted to treat up to 3.5 million gallons of sewage per day.

Environmental Compliance also oversees chemical and biological testing of waters within the city limits to ensure the water is safe for the environment; this includes testing of treated wastewater and samples collected from surface waters within the City for state mandated testing.

Additionally, Environmental Compliance oversees the quality of drinking water in the City's distribution system. Samples are taken daily at various monitoring sites around the City and tested to ensure that drinking water meets all state and federal requirements. The results of these tests can be found in the annual Consumer Confidence Report.
